7050 - 專題研究 英授 Taught in English
Directed Research
教育目標 Course Target
This lecture provides students with a parametric analytical tool to study several environmental phenomena and behavior patterns observed in the existing context. The main goals of this lecture are the followings:
1. The course aims to introduce the profound digital tool of Space Syntax developed by Bill Hillier to our senior or master level students to allow them to explore the research theme mentioned above.
2. Through this lecture it is possible to urge students to re-examine established spatial design and/or planning in relation to space use problems, etc., and to tease out proper proposals for practical references in the fields of architectural domestic design or urban spatial configuration studies or design.
3. Problems solving based and scientific research design skills exhibit the key philosophy of this digital tool per se, which can be identified as a "space doctor" literally.
This English lecture consists of the following four parts:
1. The fundamental theory of Space Syntax will be introduced firstly.
2. Quantificational process and software (Depthmap) training will then follow.
3. At the third stage, application of the Space Syntax tool on the studies of environmental phenomena and cognitive behavior patterns and their correlations to spatial configuration (i.e. generic functions or intelligibility, or sustainability, etc.) will be illustrated via several distinctive research dissertations and/or papers often cited in the Space Syntax community.
4. Finally, the exploration of creative thinking on architectural and urban design derived from each individual or group's studio deign works in terms of space use issues through application of Space Syntax parametric models (with optional possibility of integrating with other generative parametric tools, such as Grasshopper), will be further carried out by students for final presentations.

課程概述 Course Description
This course explores topics related to computer science and their application and development. In addition to arranging students to present papers on topics related to computer science and information engineering that they have studied, it also invites well-known academic scholars or experienced practitioners in the industry to give speeches and exchanges to discuss the current status and trends of various research fields in computer science and information engineering, so as to increase students' breadth of the information field.
