親愛的大一新生：歡迎你來到東海大學中文系，恭喜你即將展開精彩的大學四年生活。：）然而，「精彩的大學生活」這件事不會憑空發生，你必須主動出擊、規劃你的大學生活裡要做些什麼，唯有如此，你才可能擁有一個與眾不同、令自己難忘的大學生活。

這門課是中文系的國文課，是每一位中文系大一新生必得修習的課程。也許經歷了國中高中六年的國文課，你會感到疑惑：為什麼作為一個中文系大學生、我還需要修習「國文課」、而且還是必修呢？的確，未來的四年你必須修習多門必修課，以及依照自己的興趣與意願修習更多不同的選修課。至於在你剛踏入大學的第一門必修課「中文」，它其實可以視為是你大學生活與中文系專業的敲門磚。一方面我們將與你討論各種與文學相關的議題，閱讀更多文學作品；一方面我們也希望能以一個「過來人」的身份跟你分享關於大學生活，你可以怎麼樣開始。

Dear freshman: Welcome to the Chinese Department of Tunghai University. Congratulations on your wonderful four-year university life. :) However, "wonderful college life" does not happen in a vacuum. You must take the initiative and plan what you want to do in your college life. Only in this way can you have a unique and unforgettable college life.

This course is a Chinese language course in the Chinese Department and is a must-take course for every freshman in the Chinese Department. Maybe after six years of Chinese language classes in junior high school and high school, you may be wondering: Why, as a Chinese college student, do I still need to take "Chinese language classes" and why is it compulsory? Indeed, in the next four years you must take many required courses, as well as more elective courses according to your interests and wishes. As for the first required course "Chinese" when you first enter university, it can actually be regarded as a stepping stone for your university life and Chinese major. On the one hand, we will discuss various literature-related issues with you and read more literary works; on the other hand, we also hope to share with you about college life as a "experienced person" and how you can start.

A班:該課程雖為大一共同必修課程，但對象是中文系的學生，故有其專業的考量。因此，授課內容，會配合中國文學發展的流變，使學生對中國文學的發展，從詩經、楚辭至晚清小說的概況，有基本的認識，另外，加強對文本的分析與解讀，能更細緻、深入文本的內涵，使學生具有專業的文學能力。
C班:本課程為中文系大一必修課程，亦為本系入門之重要基礎。學生甫入大學，學習方式亟待改變：必須由記誦式轉為思考式。本課程透過選文之講析，引導學生瞭解作品背後豐富之情感與深刻之思想，藉以幫助學生觀察現象、發現問題、深入思考，尋求通透之解答。對於學生從事中國文學之研究，具有一定之啟發性。
D班:此為本系一年級必修課。教學目的在培養學生分析中國古典文學作品能力、並理解中國上古中古英雄之形象。內容以講解先秦以迄唐代之敘事文為主。

Class A: Although this course is a common required course for freshmen, it is targeted at students in the Chinese Department, so it has its own professional considerations. Therefore, the teaching content will be in line with the development of Chinese literature, so that students will have a basic understanding of the development of Chinese literature, from the Book of Songs and Songs of Chu to the novels of the late Qing Dynasty. In addition, the analysis and interpretation of the text will be strengthened to be more detailed and in-depth into the connotation of the text, so that students will have professional literary abilities.
Class C: This course is a compulsory course for freshmen in the Chinese Department and is also an important foundation for entry into the department. When students enter university, their learning methods need to change urgently: from memorizing to thinking. Through the analysis of selected texts, this course guides students to understand the rich emotions and profound thoughts behind the works, thereby helping students observe phenomena, discover problems, think deeply, and seek transparent answers. It is inspiring to students engaged in the study of Chinese literature.
Class D: This is a compulsory course for the first year of this department. The teaching purpose is to cultivate students' ability to analyze Chinese classical literary works and understand the images of ancient and medieval Chinese heroes. The content is mainly about narrative texts from pre-Qin to Tang Dynasty.
