社會學是一門關注層面廣泛的學科,從人群的集結與網絡(家庭、團體、社區、社會與國家等)、制度(政治、經濟、法律、教育、文化、媒體與宗教等)與人的關係及對人的影響,以至於人類關係(性別、種族、階級等)在社會化與制度形成、演變對人的影響。本課程主要介紹社會學的基本概念及其所關心、探究的社會現象與社會問題,其目的在使學生瞭解社會運作的邏輯、社會控制的方式,以及社會資源分配與不平等的形成等結構性現象與問題之本質性原因,並思考社會學與社會工作實踐的關係。具體目標如下:
1. 個人與社會:透過觀察日常生活、生活事件(life event)與社會現象的基礎訓練,並學習社會學的基本理論觀點,瞭解個人與社會的關係,啟發學生對於探究社會現象的興趣。
2. 社會結構與社會體系(含括社會組織):從社會結構的主要指標(人口、家庭、組織、就業、收入、消費、城鄉、區域與階層),探討個體的社會化到政治、經濟、法律、教育、文化、媒體與宗教等社會體系與其制度之相互影響與關係的議題,引導學生瞭解社會結構與社會體系的運作與衝突。
3. 社會差異與不平等:從性別、階級、種族/族群及區域的角度,探討貧窮與不平等的構造性現象與因素,培養學生對於弱勢族群的社會處境,具有觀察、提問、思考與社會關懷的能力,以奠定從事社會工作的基本知能。Sociology is a subject that focuses on a wide range of aspects, from the gathering and network of people (family, group, community, society and country, etc.), institutions (politics, economy, law, education, culture, media, religion, etc.) and the relationship between people And the impact on people, so that human relations (gender, race, class, etc.) have an impact on people in the formation and evolution of socialization and institutions. 這是一門介紹及探討社會學基本概念及社會學所關心探究的社會現象及問題。社會學研究家庭、團體、社區、社會與國家等人群的集結與網絡,也探討文化、宗教、教育、法律規範與政治、經濟等制度與人的關係及對人的影響。本課程討論的這些議題觸及了社會運作的邏輯、社會控制的方式及政治、經濟、教育等資源的分配與不平等的形成,同時也探討性別、種族、階級等人類關係在社會化及制度形成與演變過程中對人的影響。
