1.本課程每一週都需繳交memo(最少1-2頁),佔30%;
3.期末作業(論文計畫書,或者一份完整小論文一份)佔30%;

[Course Objectives]
Although each student has different fields of interest, the only truth in academic research is to keep writing. Generally speaking, reading alone cannot deepen understanding. Only writing can clarify blind spots in reading and thinking. The focus of this course is as follows: guiding students to read literature, organize reading note training, basic writing skills, academic format, academic ethics, problem awareness, theoretical propositions, choosing research methods, overcoming writing difficulties... etc. From the memo writing method to short essay writing, it helps students face their own articles and revision methods, while appreciating the "theoretical" writing methods of different writers, and then write their own short essays.
This course is mainly divided into three parts: reading training, basic academic writing and advanced academic writing, with emphasis on practical training. The course helps students develop good writing habits and problem-solving abilities, and they must understand the characteristics of academic work, such as research publication, paper citation standards, the role of the instructor, teacher-student relationship, researcher's emotions and other related issues. At the same time, the course will invite scholars and experts to share their writing experiences.
[Teaching methods and performance evaluation methods]
This course allows everyone to gradually get into the state of writing papers through exercises on each Monday's theme. Therefore, depending on the needs of the course, A4 (1 to 2 pages) homework is required for discussion every week. This course requires thesis advice from the instructor, so it is best to contact the instructor first.
**Achievement evaluation:
1. This course requires a memo (at least 1-2 pages) every week, accounting for 30%;
2. Midterm exam week: Awareness of thesis research issues, accounting for 20%.
3. The final assignment (thesis proposal, or a complete short paper) accounts for 30%;
4. Class introductory text, usual attendance and discussion scores account for 20%. If you miss class three times, you will get no usual score.
5. Students must participate in lectures given by teachers related to this course. If assignments are not submitted, there will be no grades.
*Note: Teachers need to help students correct their memo assignments. Please submit the electronic file (to the teacher and classmates) to ilearn before 5pm three days before class.
