Course Target

Overall, the goal of this course is to accomplish two things: first, write a journal article. It sounds crazy, after all, there are too many teachers in academia who cannot write journal papers... Please believe that it is not that difficult. All of you are doctoral students and have written master's thesis. We will spend a few weeks working together to rewrite your master's thesis into a journal article for publication. Second, write a thesis proposal. This is still doubtful because more teachers in academia cannot apply for various research projects. Through study and discussion in this course, each student should be able to form the prototype of a doctoral thesis research plan. Including problem awareness (problematique), literature collection, conceptual structure, research hypotheses, data collection methods, feasibility assessment and other aspects that should be taken into consideration. I will share my experience with you in the interlocking knowledge production process to help you complete the above two tasks. But after all, I only play the role of "coach", and you are the real players. The degree of your investment will determine your own learning results, and also determine whether you will never graduate in the future, or even just have to do it after graduation. A person who has high ambitions and low ambitions. Thesis writing, especially thesis, often encounters a crisis of confidence for most graduate students. They often constantly question themselves: "Am I good enough for academic research?" However, there is no need to be too discouraged and full of frustration, because many Teachers who have experienced this often face this kind of soul-searching self-doubt during their postgraduate studies. The process of writing a paper is inherently a process full of ups and downs. Sometimes it is inevitable to encounter a writer’s block and fall into the mist of stalemate. However, after breaking through and overcoming the difficulties, there will be a feeling of high spirits like "a new village has a bright future". Thesis writing is not only an integrated labor of learning knowledge in the research institute, but also a severe test of personal will and perseverance. Some "writing syndromes" will gradually emerge, waiting for the writer to overcome and resolve them one by one. This course is designed to help doctoral students efficiently and smoothly complete a thesis on topics they are familiar with or interested in, and to write a smooth and stable research plan. This course is an on-the-job training course on "basic skills". "Learning by doing" and "learning by doing" are the basic tones of this course. Therefore, every PhD student should take active actions. Please create a research log file to record what you think and learn, and bring it to class for discussion. In addition to being a workshop, this course is also a discussion class. The amount of teaching materials we study is limited, but students need to enter into each other's care and confusion. Understanding others' difficulties and breakthroughs is an opportunity for self-learning and growth. Therefore, everyone should prepare their own speeches before class, listen to others' speeches during class, and participate in everyone's discussions. In short, the main purpose of this course is to move from "how to frame questions" to "planning an appropriate research design" and to develop focused and detailed arguments. This is a "practical class" for essay writing, a workshop for knowledge craftsmen, so, Get your hands dirty! This is the duty of scholars and graduate students. Papers must be written and research must be done. Let me tell you, if you haven’t written a paper or done research for a few years, you will no longer be able to write a paper or do research. Come on everyone.
