這門課是大學部的基礎經濟學課程，前半學期講授個體經濟學（microeconomics），討論家戶與廠商的消費、生產、投資、就業等行為，以及市場機能、市場失靈等問題；後半學期講授總體經濟學（macroeconomics），討論經濟成長、物價膨脹、景氣波動、總體政策等相關議題。除了介紹基礎經濟學的各種理論，讓學生了解市場機能和經濟政策的運作原理之外，這門課也會引導學生操作、應用經濟學理論來解釋各種政策和社會現象。希望能鼓勵學生關心周遭各種經濟、社會議題，並且能夠針對議題或政策進行批判性的討論。

這門課雖然是基礎課程，考量學生未來可能會修習更進階的經濟學課程，授課時不會刻意迴避必要的技術性細節。修這門課不需要微積分的基礎，但中學程度的數學是必要的。

This course is a basic economics course in the undergraduate department. The first half of the semester teaches individual economics (microeconomics), discussing the consumption, production, investment, employment and other behaviors of households and manufacturers, as well as issues such as market functions and market failures. The second half of the semester teaches macroeconomics (macroeconomics), discussing economic growth, price inflation, business fluctuations, overall policies and other related issues. In addition to introducing various theories of basic economics and allowing students to understand the operating principles of market functions and economic policies, this course will also guide students to operate and apply economic theories to explain various policies and social phenomena. We hope to encourage students to care about various economic and social issues around them, and to be able to conduct critical discussions on issues or policies.

Although this course is a basic course, considering that students may take more advanced economics courses in the future, the necessary technical details will not be deliberately avoided during the teaching. No prior calculus is required to take this course, but high school-level mathematics is necessary.

An introductory course in economics covering individual economics and general economics. It aims to cultivate the establishment of economic thinking methods and understand the basic operating structure of the economic system and the causal relationship between policies and the economic system.
