若說『社會學』是一套觀察與研究社會的知識，那麼這門課就是帶領大家開始摸索『社會學思考方式』的課程。社會學迷人之處在於它沒有一套標準的社會學思考方式，沒有唯一的標準答案也正是首次接觸社會學的大學新鮮人最大的憂慮，因此這門課的目標就是讓同學放棄尋求制式標準答案的慣性，體會以不同的視野重新認識生活世界的新鮮感。
這一門課為了達成這個目標，第一學期的前半學期將介紹社會學的基本概念，下半學期則要帶著大家使用社會學的知識討論生活機會不平等的現象。邁開此課程的第一步，就請你們從日常生活周遭著手，開始對社會上的各式問題與現象抱持好奇的態度與思考的精神，然後以一種新奇的眼光對習以為常的現象提出問題，並試著觀察、紀錄與回答；當然你也要逐步地以社會學的各種觀點來統整你的觀察，我期待大家可以善用別人的眼光來型塑自己看待社會的看法，而這些觀點則展現在豐富社會學的研究與作品之中，因此本課程期待你透過閱讀各種不同的文本培養出社會學思考的能力。

If "sociology" is a set of knowledge for observing and studying society, then this course is a course that leads everyone to start exploring the "sociological way of thinking". The fascinating thing about sociology is that it does not have a standard way of thinking about sociology. There is no single standard answer, which is the biggest worry for freshmen who are exposed to sociology for the first time. Therefore, the goal of this course is to let students give up the inertia of seeking standard answers and experience the novelty of re-understanding the world of life from a different perspective.
In order to achieve this goal, this course will introduce the basic concepts of sociology in the first half of the first semester, and in the second half of the semester, students will use sociological knowledge to discuss the phenomenon of inequality of life opportunities. As the first step in this course, I ask you to start from your daily life, start to have a curious attitude and thinking spirit towards various problems and phenomena in society, and then ask questions about common phenomena from a novel perspective, and try to observe, record and answer; of course, you must also gradually use Various viewpoints in sociology are used to integrate your observations. I hope that everyone can make good use of others' perspectives to shape their own views on society, and these viewpoints are reflected in rich sociological research and works. Therefore, this course hopes that you will develop the ability to think sociologically through reading a variety of different texts.
