教育目標 Course Target
本課程傳授的對象以大學部學生為主。「文化」是人類生活中最豐富也最錯綜複雜的詞彙,文化社會學的相關課程設計,也向來呈現出同等的多樣性。Edles Laura D. 在其著作Cultural Sociology in Practice (2002)中,曾將「文化」的用法區分為三:高級精緻的文化成就、生活的總體,以及共享的意義體系。而學術脈絡對於文化課題的研究取徑,在Edles的觀點中也區分為三類:分析文化客體意義的「文化研究」(cultural study),關注文化客體生產過程和結構的「文化的社會學」(sociology of culture),以及兼容並蓄上述兩種分析取徑、並系統分析文化社會條件的「文化社會學」(cultural sociology)。而在綜覽文化意涵與研究取徑的多元性之後,課程設計的核心,在第一、第二單元階段,特別著重文化社會學理論與方法論的比較與省思,並探討相應的具體實證研究成果,以養成學生從事文化社會學研究的理論敏感度,提高對於研究工具的掌握程度。此外,當代社會中,尤其是當代台灣社會中幾項重大、影響深遠的文化現象與課題,如全球化、新興資訊文化、文化多元性的迷思等課題,都將成為課程第三單元深入檢視的焦點,以期引導學生將文化社會學相關理論與方法論的學習,納入文化時事的觀察與剖析訓練當中,更鼓勵學生透過期末報告的撰寫,落實獨立研究能力
This course is mainly taught to undergraduate students. "Culture" is the richest and most complex vocabulary in human life, and the relevant curriculum design of cultural sociology has always shown the same diversity. In her book Cultural Sociology in Practice (2002), Edles Laura D. once distinguished the usage of "culture" into three types: high-level and refined cultural achievements, life in general, and shared meaning systems. According to Edles, academic research approaches to cultural topics can be divided into three categories: "cultural study" that analyzes the meaning of cultural objects, "sociology of culture" that focuses on the production process and structure of cultural objects, and "cultural sociology" that embraces the above two analytical approaches and systematically analyzes cultural and social conditions. After reviewing the diversity of cultural connotations and research approaches, the core of the course design, in the first and second unit stages, places special emphasis on the comparison and reflection of cultural sociology theories and methodologies, and explores corresponding specific empirical research results, so as to develop students' theoretical sensitivity in cultural sociology research and improve their mastery of research tools. In addition, several major and far-reaching cultural phenomena and issues in contemporary society, especially in contemporary Taiwanese society, such as globalization, emerging information culture, and the myth of cultural diversity, will become the focus of in-depth examination in the third unit of the course, with a view to guiding students to incorporate the study of relevant theories and methodologies of cultural sociology into the observation and analysis of cultural current events. Students are also encouraged to implement their independent research abilities through the writing of final reports.
