這門課關心的焦點是「政治與社會如何彼此影響」；更具體地說，政治現象如何形塑社會現象，而社會現象又如何形塑政治現象。換言之，政治及政策與社會制度之間存在著一複雜糾結的關係。我們要探討的是，在「國家—社會—人民」這個主軸中，權力與權威是如何地展現，各項利益關係是如何地交錯，受壓迫者又是如何地表達其訴求，而國家政體與社會在這樣的交互衝擊下，呈現如何的樣貌與發展。更進一步要提問的是，在全球化的時代，面對愈趨嚴峻的政經情勢，民族國家如何因應與調整？而人民的抗爭是否隨時代進展有了不同的形式與串連？

The focus of this course is "how politics and society influence each other"; more specifically, how political phenomena shape social phenomena, and how social phenomena shape political phenomena. In other words, there is a complex and tangled relationship between politics and policies and social systems. What we want to explore is how power and authority are displayed in the main axis of "state-society-people", how various interests are intertwined, how the oppressed express their demands, and what kind of appearance and development the national political system and society will show under such interactive impact. A further question to ask is, in the era of globalization, how do nation-states respond and adjust in the face of increasingly severe political and economic situations? And has the people's struggle taken on different forms and connections as the times progress?

本課程設計乃在於承繼學生修習過政治學與社會學後，協助其聚焦於政治與社會學交集之次領域的進階學習。透過對於重要政治社會學者的思想與理論主張介紹與研讀，提升學生的政治思考與反思能力。

This course is designed to inherit students who have studied political science and sociology and help them focus on advanced study in the intersection of politics and sociology. Through the introduction and study of the thoughts and theoretical propositions of important political and social scholars, students' political thinking and reflection abilities are enhanced.
