相對於古典三大家，Marx, Weber, Durkheim，Foucault是20世紀下半業最具影響力的社會學家，其理論觀點與影響均獨樹一格，值得大家仔細研讀與欣賞。

本課程為博士班的必修課，是重要的基礎訓練課程，因此課程的要求會較選修課來的嚴格。本課程在進行時，每週的導讀以60分鐘為上限，除了進行文本摘要外，也可以對重要的二手著作進行引證與申論。為了培養博士生的主持討論與對話能力，本課程將由每週的導讀者規劃並主持當週的討論議題並帶領討論，每位課堂參與同學都需要參加討論。主持者也可邀請同學發言。參與發言的同學可依當下的討論議題，或依自己的weekly issue memo內容進行發言與分享。授課老師將只在討論的過程中做適時的參與，增加討論的深度與廣度。本課程除了希望能夠過閱讀與討論，增加博士生對傅科理論觀點與內容的理解外，也希望能增加博士生的主導授課能力，與參與課堂討論的論述和分析能力。

Compared with the three classical masters, Marx, Weber, Durkheim, and Foucault are the most influential sociologists in the second half of the 20th century. Their theoretical perspectives and influences are unique and worthy of everyone's careful study and appreciation.

This course is a required course for doctoral programs and an important basic training course. Therefore, the requirements of the course will be more stringent than those of elective courses. During the course of this course, the weekly introductory reading is limited to 60 minutes. In addition to text summaries, you can also cite and make arguments on important second-hand works. In order to cultivate the ability of doctoral students to host discussions and dialogues, this course will have a weekly facilitator who will plan and host the discussion topics of the week and lead the discussions. Every student participating in the class needs to participate in the discussion. The moderator can also invite classmates to speak. Students who participate in the speech can speak and share based on the current discussion topic or the content of their own weekly issue memo. The instructor will only participate in the discussion process in a timely manner to increase the depth and breadth of the discussion. This course not only hopes to increase doctoral students' understanding of Foucault's theoretical viewpoints and contents through reading and discussion, but also hopes to increase doctoral students' ability to lead teaching and participate in class discussions for discussion and analysis.
