本課程為針對大一社會學設計的初階課程。上學期課內容著重於介紹何為「社會學」、社會學的基本關懷、重要概念和方法,引導修課同學檢視個人經驗與各種被視為理所當然的社會現象,並透過助教課研讀社會調查著作,培養社會學想像力和敏感度,並啟發調查後知不足的問題導向學習(problem-based learning),作為本學期忠義社區社會調查實作的準備。本學期的重點則是透過忠義社區的實地訪查,學習社會學概念和方法的運用。This course is a preliminary course for freshman social design. The content of the course during the last year focuses on introducing what is "social learning", the basic concerns, important concepts and methods of social learning, and guides students in the course to view personal experience and various social phenomena that are taken for granted. They also study social survey works through teaching assistant courses to cultivate social imagination and sensitivity, and initiate problem-based learning (problem-based) learning), as a preparation for the implementation of social surveys in Zhongyi Community in this period. The focus of this school is to learn the use of social concepts and methods through real-life visits to the Zhongyi Community.
