課程目的,在使學生認識微生物,學習微生物學知識,瞭解微生物學的應用與研究,為相關的生態保育、環境科學與工程、農林與食品科學、臨床醫學、遺傳工程、分子生物或跨學科的範疇奠基。教授內容包括基礎微生物、微生物多樣性、臨床、環境與應用微生物學。教學包括講授、錄影帶、討論與參訪菌種中心。希望藉認識地球上眾多微尺度的生物種類,了解肉眼所無法看見的生命現象,一窥廣闊的生命科學。
