「社會學？社會學是啥？」、「學社會學能幹麻？」這兩個問題大概是初次聽到「社會學」時會浮現的兩個問題。讓各位在本學期的課程中知道社會學是什麼、知曉社會學觀看各樣事物的角度，是這門課程的主要目標。
我們所身處的世界，是一個強調個體，並且趨向於在個體身上尋找行動理由的世界。翻開報紙、打開電視，各樣的事件充斥在我們的周邊，多數人談論這些事件時，總是過多強調事件主角的個性、人格以及個體選擇等，卻忽略了人是生活在這個社會之中，人的行為與選擇，有很大一部份受到社會結構的影響與限制。社會學的觀點就在幫助我們理解事情如何牽連在一起，幫助我們穿透表象，理解設我們所身處的世界是什麼樣子、以及我們如何參與在其中。

"Sociology? What is sociology?" and "What's wrong with studying sociology?" These two questions are probably the two questions that will pop up when you hear "sociology" for the first time. The main goal of this course is to let you know what sociology is and how sociology views various things in this semester's course.
The world we live in is a world that emphasizes individuals and tends to find reasons for action in individuals. When we open the newspaper or turn on the TV, various events are all around us. When most people talk about these events, they always put too much emphasis on the personality, personality and individual choices of the protagonists of the events, but ignore that people live in this society, and their behaviors and choices are largely affected and restricted by the social structure. A sociological perspective helps us understand how things are connected, helping us see beyond the surface to understand what the world we live in is like and how we participate in it.

這是一門介紹及探討社會學基本概念及社會學所關心探究的社會現象及問題。社會學研究家庭、團體、社區、社會與國家等人群的集結與網絡，也探討文化、宗教、教育、法律規範與政治、經濟等制度與人的關係及對人的影響。本課程討論的這些議題觸及了社會運作的邏輯、社會控制的方式及政治、經濟、教育等資源的分配與不平等的形成，同時也探討性別、種族、階級等人類關係在社會化及制度形成與演變過程中對人的影響。
1.透過社會學觀點理論與社會現象觀察的基本訓練，啟發學生對於社會現象探究之興趣，建構系統性探究社會的基本知識與能力。
2.從重要的社會、文化、政治與經濟等議題的討論，協助學生理解社會體系與社會制度的運作。
3.透過社會學課程，培養學生對於社會上的弱勢族群所處之社會情境，具有提問及思考分析能力，並促使學生對於人群社會有更深層的關懷。

This is a course that introduces and explores the basic concepts of sociology and the social phenomena and issues that sociology is concerned with exploring. Sociology studies the gathering and networks of people such as families, groups, communities, societies, and countries, and also explores the relationship between culture, religion, education, legal norms, political, economic and other systems and people and their impact on people. The topics discussed in this course touch on the logic of social operation, the methods of social control, the distribution of political, economic, educational and other resources and the formation of inequality. It also explores the impact of gender, race, class and other human relations on people in the process of socialization and the formation and evolution of institutions.
1. Through basic training in sociological perspective theory and social phenomenon observation, students are inspired to be interested in exploring social phenomena and build basic knowledge and abilities to systematically explore society.
2. Help students understand social systems and the operation of social systems through discussions on important social, cultural, political and economic issues.
3. Through sociology courses, students can develop their ability to ask questions and think and analyze the social situations of disadvantaged groups in society, and encourage students to have a deeper concern for society.
