Sociology of Aging
教育目標 Course Target
老化是一個多面向的過程,也對生命來正面與負面的影響,這個影響橫跨生理、心理與社會互動三個領域。傳統的老年研究常將焦點放在生理與心理的領域,相對忽略了社會環境對老化過程的影響,本課程的教學將聚焦在老化與社會結構、老化社會互動、與社會角色、以及老化與照護等三個老化與社會互動的面向。為了讓修課學生能有系統的瞭解上述三個老化與社會互動的三個面向,本課程的授課規劃將從生命週期的角度缺入,先探討不同生命階段的社會互動關係作為課程程的基礎,再對照生理、心理與社會的老化對生命的影響,接著介紹社會結構對老化的研究理論;第三階段則以單元的方式探討高齡的社會角色與照護議題。
為求能有效地達到教學目標,本課程的授課方式除了教師師的講授外,將按照不同主題安排觀賞影片後,進行深度討論與心得的撰寫,讓修課學生對於授課議題內容都有深刻的體會。
期待修習本課程的學生可以獲得以下四項素養與能力:
一、 瞭解高齡社會學的議題與基本概念
二、 瞭解社會結構對老化的影響
三、 瞭解老化對高齡者的社會互動特質
四、 能獲得協助高齡者有效解決社會互動議題的能力
Aging is a multi-faceted process that has both positive and negative impacts on life. This impact spans the three fields of physiology, psychology and social interaction. Traditional aging research often focuses on the physiological and psychological fields, relatively ignoring the impact of social environment on the aging process. The teaching of this course will focus on three aspects of aging and social interaction: aging and social structure, aging social interaction, and social roles, and aging and care. In order to allow students to systematically understand the above three aspects of aging and social interaction, the teaching plan of this course will be from the perspective of the life cycle. It will first explore the social interaction relationship at different life stages as the basis of the course, and then compare the impact of physical, psychological and social aging on life, and then introduce the research theory of social structure on aging; in the third stage, the social role and care issues of the elderly will be discussed in a unit manner.
In order to effectively achieve the teaching objectives, in addition to lectures by teachers, the teaching method of this course will be arranged according to different themes. After watching videos, in-depth discussions and writing of experiences will be conducted, so that students taking the course can have a deep understanding of the teaching topics.
Students who take this course are expected to acquire the following four qualities and abilities:
1. Understand the issues and basic concepts of the sociology of aging
2. Understand the impact of social structure on aging
3. Understand the social interaction characteristics of aging on the elderly
4. Gain the ability to assist the elderly in effectively solving social interaction issues
