本課程的討論中心為近代人物，在制訂政策、引領國家走向的重要政治領導者之外，將眼光擴及與百姓接觸、進而使其生活產生根本變革，擁有實際影響力的各階層，透過講述這些重要人物的作用，解釋近代中國由興盛走向危機，人民由封閉走想開放的過程，令學生在傳統政治史教學方法之外，對中國近代歷史發展有更深入的認識與了解，希望讓學生有更開闊的歷史文化胸襟。

The discussion center of this course is modern figures. In addition to the important political leaders who formulated policies and led the country's direction, they also expanded their horizons to contact the people and bring about fundamental changes in their lives. Through the narration of these important figures, It explains the process of modern China's transition from prosperity to crisis, and the people's transformation from isolation to openness, so that students can have a deeper understanding of the development of modern Chinese history in addition to traditional political history teaching methods, hoping to give students a broader historical and cultural mind.
