使學生對化學的基本原理和規律有一定的認識。課程中將引入生活上實際觀察到的現象，讓學生能運用化學原理提出解釋並解決問題。本課程為基礎課程，為日後生命科學之基礎，透過課程教授希望能讓學生奠定基礎化學知識與技能，以利高年級課程學習。課程內容涵蓋化學組成、化學鍵結、分子形狀，熱力學與電化學。

Enable students to have a certain understanding of the basic principles and laws of chemistry. The course will introduce practically observed phenomena in life, allowing students to use the principles of chemistry to propose explanations and solve problems. This course is a basic course and is the foundation of future life sciences. Through courses, the professor hopes that students can lay the foundational knowledge and skills of chemistry to facilitate advanced course learning. The course content covers chemistry composition, chemistry keys, molecular shapes, heat and electrochemical studies.

1.主要是使學生瞭解化學是一種有系統研究物質的形成、組成與性質，以及轉變為其它物質之過程的科學。
2.「化學」不僅對學生的日常生活有極密切的關係，而且要讓學生體會及瞭解化學的原理和使用方法，及利用大自然廣大資源，來改善人類日常生活的需要，因而促進人類的物質文明。
3.化學除了製出許多有用化工產品，除讓人類生活更舒適外，往往也會產生一些對人類健康可能有害的物質，並污染大自然生態。
4. 因此，今日化學的研究也需要設法維護大自然，使人類有免於接受這些有害污染物的責任。
