桌球是一種面對面對抗性相當強且是速度與旋轉結合的運動,可依個人喜好或發展趨勢選擇直式(握筆式)及橫式(握手式)握拍法。以初學者而言,首先學習撞擊為主之反手推球、正手擊球(正手攻球)及正、反手結合技術之左推右攻並結合單步、併步之步法 ;教導單、雙打比賽規則,以比賽練習方式將現有技術應用於比賽中,加強接發球技術。進階課程則以摩擦為主之發旋轉球、搓球及弧圈球等技術。身體力量、動作的運用及重心轉移則需特別注重,以求質量的提升並能預防運動傷害。
