Qualitative Research Methods- Interviewing, Ethnography and Analysis

教育目標 Course Target

本課分為四個單元:參與觀察與寫作田野筆記、生命史/社會傳記/生命歷程研究、數位民族誌、論述分析。每個單元進行三週,前兩週由修課同學輪流導讀必讀教材,第三週在課堂上發表該單元的作業,並接受其他同學和授課教師的評論與建議。本課無需繳交期末報告,修課成績以導讀表現和課堂發表之作業為準。

This course is divided into four units: participant observation and writing field notes, life history/social biography/life course research, digital ethnography, and discourse analysis. Each unit lasts for three weeks. In the first two weeks, students taking the course take turns to read the required textbooks. In the third week, the unit's assignments will be presented in class and comments and suggestions from other students and teachers will be accepted. There is no need to submit a final report for this course, and the course grade will be based on the performance of the introductory reading and the assignments published in class.

課程概述 Course Description

質化研究是一門社會科學領域常用的研究方法論課程,本課程介紹餐旅領域常使用之質化研究方法的觀點與研究過程,以文本分析研究為主認識質化研究特質,詮釋典範的相關觀點、量化與質化研究差異、質性研究企劃過程、資料收集方法及技巧、研究倫理、寫作方式等;並協助同學選擇碩士論文主題、找出問題意識、整理文獻、擬出研究架構,撰寫研究大綱、並執行質化研究過程。

Qualitative research is a commonly used research methodology course in the field of social sciences. This course introduces the viewpoints and research processes of qualitative research methods commonly used in the field of hospitality. It focuses on text analysis research to understand the characteristics of qualitative research, interprets relevant viewpoints of examples, differences between quantitative and qualitative research, qualitative research planning process, data collection methods and techniques, research ethics, writing methods, etc. It also assists students in choosing a master's thesis topic, identifying problem awareness, organizing literature, formulating a research structure, writing a research outline, and executing the qualitative research process.
