本課程延續大二的政治學研究方法入門基礎課程，本課程主要重點在針對統計學的基本原則和方法，並藉由系統性介紹研究的本質、研究的設計、操作的模式、資料的分析與報告的撰寫方法，以及統計學在社會科學的運用之教學，主要目的是希望讓同學瞭解統計學在研究政治現象上所扮演的角色。另一方面並配合統計軟體的介紹與實際操作，使學生能夠獨立進行資料分析。著重於社會科學的研究法重要觀念快速複習以及之後從事社會科學資料的分析和統計學實務的研討和實作能力。
本課程主要內容包括：
（1）社會科學研究法，研究的基本概念和研究設計
（2）統計學在社會科學的運用與角色
（3）統計分析的方法（使用MS EXCEL、SPSS等）
（4）最終目標使學生能夠使用SPSS統計軟體獨立進行資料分析。This course extends the basic course of sophomore political research methods. This course focuses on the basic principles and methods of statistical engineering, and systematically introduces the nature of research, the design of research, the operational model, the analysis of data and the writing methods of reports, as well as the teaching of the application of statistical engineering in social science. The main purpose is to enable students to understand the role of statistical engineering in studying political phenomena. On the other hand, in conjunction with the introduction and actual operation of the statistical software, students can conduct data analysis independently. Focusing on the rapid replication of important research concepts in social sciences, and the research and practice ability of subsequent social science data analysis and statistical practice.
The main contents of this course include:
(1) Social science research method, basic concepts and research design of research
(2) The application and role of statistical science in social science
(3) Methods of statistical analysis (using MS EXCEL, SPSS, etc.)
(4) The final goal enables students to use SPSS statistic software to conduct data analysis independently.
