本課程延續大二的政治學研究方法入門基礎課程，本課程主要重點在針對統計學的基本原則和方法，並藉由系統性介紹研究的本質、研究的設計、操作的模式、資料的分析與報告的撰寫方法，以及統計學在社會科學的運用之教學，主要目的是希望讓同學瞭解統計學在研究政治現象上所扮演的角色。另一方面並配合統計軟體的介紹與實際操作，使學生能夠獨立進行資料分析。著重於社會科學的研究法重要觀念快速複習以及之後從事社會科學資料的分析和統計學實務的研討和實作能力。
本課程主要內容包括：
（1）社會科學研究法，研究的基本概念和研究設計
（2）統計學在社會科學的運用與角色
（3）統計分析的方法（使用MS EXCEL、SPSS等）
（4）最終目標使學生能夠使用SPSS統計軟體獨立進行資料分析。

This course continues the introductory basic course on political science research methods for sophomores. This course mainly focuses on the basic principles and methods of statistics, and systematically introduces the nature of research, research design, operation mode, data analysis and report writing methods, as well as the application of statistics in social sciences. The main purpose is to let students understand the role statistics plays in studying political phenomena. On the other hand, it is combined with the introduction and practical operation of statistical software to enable students to conduct data analysis independently. It focuses on a quick review of important concepts of research methods in social sciences and the ability to conduct research and practice in analyzing social science data and practicing statistics.
The main contents of this course include:
(1) Social science research methods, basic concepts of research and research design
(2) The application and role of statistics in social sciences
(3) Statistical analysis methods (using MS EXCEL, SPSS, etc.)
(4) The ultimate goal is to enable students to use SPSS statistical software to independently conduct data analysis.
