東海大學哲學系博士班成立之目的，在於培養哲學研究與教學之人才，而論文寫作能力之訓練為本系教學重點之一。畢業論文之設立，在於訓練學生獨立思考、寫作、提問、深入研究與解決哲學問題之能力，有助於教學目的之達成。
本課程係非講演性質之課程，學生須依本系碩博士班修業規則之規定進行論文之撰寫與考試。
