而數位地圖的技術,結合各個專業領域及資訊科學,發展成地理資訊系統(GIS);除了能快速製作地圖之外,可運用電腦科技將地表環境資源加以整合、分析,並提出人們對於地表資源經營管理及空間決策之機制,達成永續發展的目標。
近年來,地理資訊的發展更趨多元化,從地理學、景觀、水土保持、都計、資訊科學、環境資源、交通等領域均有許多地理資訊的應用方向;而最新的發展方向,則是強調各種現象之空間性,透過空間概念將實質現象加以轉化、分析,並加以整合運用。
對於地表景觀之應用,也是一項重要的課題;景觀領域之議題包羅萬象,均與空間現象有關;因此本課程將透過地理資訊之基礎理論概念、功能及應用實例之解說,配合網路GIS資源介紹,使學生瞭解GIS的概念及應用方向,並從實作中學習操作分析的技術;同時能應用網路上的GIS資源輔助GIS之實務應用;使同學能熟悉GIS之觀念與技術,以期理論與實務能充分配合。
