作為未來進階經濟學課程的先備基礎，我們不會刻意迴避必要的技術性細節。修這門課不需要微積分的基礎，但中學程度的數學是必要的。This course is a basic economics course in the undergraduate department. This semester teaches individual economics (microeconomics), discussing the consumption, production, investment, employment and other behaviors of households and manufacturers, as well as issues such as market functions and market failures.
In addition to introducing various theories of basic economics to let you understand the operating principles of market functions and economic policies, this course will also guide you to operate and apply economic theories to explain various policies and social phenomena. I hope that you will be more concerned about various economic and social issues around you, and be able to conduct critical discussions on issues or policies.
As a preparatory foundation for future advanced economics courses, we will not deliberately avoid necessary technical details. No prior calculus is required to take this course, but high school-level mathematics is necessary.
經濟學是研究如何把稀少性資源，做最有效率配置的一門學問，旨在探討人們在有限的資源下如何做選擇？以及人們所選擇的活動，會造成什麼樣的結果？因此，經濟學也可說是一門研究選擇的科學。本課程介紹基本經濟學概念及分析工具，用來研究如何把有限資源配置到各個彼此互斥的用途上，以期對經濟活動（行為） 有深入的瞭解，課程內容涵蓋個體經濟學及總體經濟學。個體經濟內容包括: 經濟學與經濟課題、市場如何運作、家戶選擇行為之探討、廠商選擇行為與市場結構、市場失靈與政府角色、訊息不對稱等。總體經濟內容包括: 總體經濟探討議題、國民所得的意義與衡量、物價膨脹與失業、貨幣與金融市場、總合供需分析、財政政策與貨幣政策、國際貿易與金融等。
Economics is a discipline that studies how to allocate scarce resources in the most efficient manner. It aims to explore how people make choices with limited resources. And what are the consequences of the activities people choose? Therefore, economics can also be said to be a science that studies choices. This course introduces basic economic concepts and analytical tools, which are used to study how to allocate limited resources to mutually exclusive uses, in order to gain an in-depth understanding of economic activities (behavior). The course content covers individual economics and overall economics. . Individual economics content includes: economics and economic topics, how the market operates, discussion of household choice behavior, manufacturer choice behavior and market structure, market failure and government role, information asymmetry, etc. The general economic content includes: general economic discussion issues, the meaning and measurement of national income, price inflation and unemployment, currency and financial markets, aggregate supply and demand analysis, fiscal policy and monetary policy, international trade and finance, etc.
