The course of "Literature Overview" hopes to bring you all who have just entered the Chinese department of university to think and discuss: "What is literature" and "What is literature"; and besides being a pure and pleasant reader, there are other ways to understand the detailed and rich passwords hidden in various texts, so that you can gradually become a "professional reader." "Let students understand what literature is?" Such a grand teaching goal is naturally not easily achieved by a year of course; the difficulties include: it is difficult for us to explain this big problem clearly through a year of "overview"; and whether reading from pure and pure aesthetic entertainment purpose to strict reading will destroy the pure enthusiasm of our first love of literature?
"What is literature" may be a question raised by Chinese students after entering this department; and you will answer this question through the next four years, or even a whole series: What is literature and what kind of writing means to you "self". Only by reading more and more works and experiencing more life experiences can you slowly have a little bit of your own thoughts about this problem; it may also be different in your answer to this question in every stage of your life as you change your life and change your vision. And this continuous process of exploration and thinking is like experiencing one scene after another in the literary world. And at this moment, the trip is about to begin.
"Because words are everything in the work, I slowly read the original body of the work by reading words. You cannot finish listening to the concerto with four chapters as soon as possible. The ideal reader should be like an ideal classical listener, not letting go of every note (text), or even a rest symbol (point symbol)." - Wang Wenxing's "Home Change"
In this class, we will focus on reading and feeling the text, including three types of text: poems, dramas and novels. Think about the problem through detailed reading of the text, including the meaning of each text and symbol, the characteristics of different literary forms, what literary styles are, and the world that the text has set up and what it may correspond to. "Reading" is the key to opening the literary world. We look forward to students not rushing to find answers from literary works, but patiently follow the passage of words, and travel back and forth between text, the world, and the self. We also leave your own reading and printing marks during the voyage, and gradually cultivate the ability to evaluate works. During the reading process of each text, students will also be brought to the world of literary history and literature theory. In addition to being a basic accumulation for professional training for Chinese students, we also hope to create more abundant text analysis skills and vision.
本課程除介紹各種文學類別(詩歌、小說、散文、戲曲、電影)之風格特色外,也包含文學功能、文學批評、文學類別、文學傳播等基礎文學理論與概念,並擬藉由文學知識的引介,讓學生能掌握文學與其他學科的關聯性,如語言學、歷史學、心理學等,透過古典、現代相關文本的閱讀與理論印證,擴展學生的文學視野與知識。可作為後續文學發展史、文學批評史之基礎課程。
