This intermediate economics course aims to help students to deepen their understanding of the economy at the macro level. Focus is placed on the functioning of the macroeconomy, of which the temporal dimension (from the short run, the medium run, through to the long run) and the spatial dimension (from the closed economy to the open economy) are examined with equal weights. This course introduces the theoretical content and policy implications of each general school of thought, and explores the role of government in economic society. The content covers the classical school, Keynesian school, monetary school, emerging classical school, emerging Keynesian school, real business cycle, supply-side school and economic growth theory.
