Introduction to Pet Science
Course Target
The course content introduces common pet species including cats, dogs, rabbits, ornamental birds, tropical fish, etc., as well as the history of petization, and outlines the pet population size, food, medical care, appliances and other markets in advanced countries in the world, allowing students to have the ability to appreciate multiculturalism; and explores the positive impact of companion animals on human society, such as For example, medical treatment includes psychological treatment, physical rehabilitation, lowering blood pressure, etc. Pets can also have a negative impact on human society, such as pets and people sharing common infectious diseases or excreting and urinating in the streets at will, or even people using dogs or pigeons to engage in competitions for gambling, creating negative social habits, which are also within the scope of discussion. On the other hand, through the introduction of pet behavior, it explores how people and companion animals can get along correctly to resolve conflicts between people and dogs. From the above, students can understand the relationship between pets and people.
In terms of respecting life: 1. Understand the nutritional needs of pets and prevent people from providing food with subjective consciousness, which may cause harm to them if they are loved enough. 2. Provide living space, provide appropriate activities, and arrange walking, mountain climbing, and travel to increase the joy of life, instead of traditional pens or cages. 3. Companion animals have the same problems of life, death, illness and old age as humans. People should treat dogs as loyal friends. For example, they should provide aging care, let them live in peace, and deal with the aftermath of their end of life. However, there is still a folk saying of "dead dogs are released into the water, and dead cats are hung on the top of trees." Customs, and recent incidents of animal cruelty and killing by college students or graduate students have been frequently heard in the social news, so it is urgent to be subtle. Therefore, we must start from the important foundation-education, instill love for pets and protect the environment, and strive to improve the social problems that arise between humans and pets.
