國際關係是非常複雜的現象。我們每天從電視、網路、報紙和雜誌上都會看到許多和國際關係相關的事件或新聞,例如美國遭受恐怖攻擊、俄國進攻車臣、歐元開始流通、兩韓和解、以巴流血衝突、中共發射太空船以及印巴再度爆發衝突等。本科目為國際關係入門的導論性課程,我們的目的不只是在於提醒大家注意這些每天發生的大小的事件,更在於引導同學們對於國際關係中重複出現的現象做出觀察,並以領域中重要的觀念和理論加以探討。
此外,區域經濟整合與國際經濟全球化為近幾年來世界經濟的重要趨勢,彼此間的衝突矛盾日益彰顯。區域經濟組織和國際組織所形成之各種國際政策及原則對未來國際經濟有相當重要的影響,透過對各區域經濟整合的了解,進而分析其對全球及我國經濟發展的影響,加強學生們對訊息萬變的國際經濟有所認識,特別側重於對歐洲經濟整合的介紹。當然,針對歐洲區域整合、歐洲東擴議題、亞太區域整合的前景,也會成為上課的討論重點。International relations are very complex phenomena. 國際關係的重要理論、外交政策之決策過程、國際衝突及解決、軍事力量、國際組織與國際法、國際貿易、金融與企業、區域整合、國際環境問題、南北差距、國際發展、美國與兩岸關係。
