Starting from the first and second laws of classical thermodynamics, we explore the conversion and limiting conditions of heat and work in chemical processes, the energy balance of closed and open systems, and the thermal effects related to chemical processes, and discuss the various differences between pure substances and real fluid mixtures. Thermodynamic properties and correlation methods establish students’ foundation for thermal calculation and application in chemical engineering. Then introduce the thermodynamic analysis and application of flow procedures, estimation of thermodynamic properties of fluid mixtures and related prediction methods, concepts of residual properties, theoretical basis of solution thermodynamics, gas-liquid phase equilibrium, concepts of escape pressure and activity coefficient, application of equation of state, etc., emphasizing the application of thermodynamic theory in chemical engineering. Program application.
