Topics in Chinese Dialects Studies

教育目標 Course Target

課程目標:
1. 對現代漢語方言有基本的認識;
2. 對臺灣閩客方言的共時音韻系統有基本的認識;
3. 對臺灣閩客方言的歷時音韻演變有基本的認識;
4. 能嫻熟以國際音標記錄自己的母語以及漢語方言;
5. 能開始運用中古《切韻》框架進行現代方言的比較研究:
6. 對閩客語方言本字研究有基礎的認識。
課程內涵:
1. 現代漢語方言典範性研究成果的閱讀與評述;
2. 現代漢語方言的共時描述(一):國際音標記音;
3. 現代漢語方言的共時描述(二):語言結構分析;
4. 現代漢語方言的歷時分析(一):與《切韻》系統的比較;
5. 現代漢語方言的歷時分析(二):語音演變的類型。
6. 漢語方言歷史層次以及本字研究。

Course objectives:
1. Have a basic understanding of modern Chinese dialects;
2. Have a basic understanding of the synchronic phonological system of Taiwanese Minke dialect;
3. Have a basic understanding of the diachronic phonological evolution of Taiwan’s Minke dialect;
4. Be able to record your mother tongue and Chinese dialects proficiently in International Phonetic Alphabet;
5. Be able to start using the medieval "Qie Yun" framework to conduct comparative research on modern dialects:
6. Have a basic understanding of the research on the original characters of the Min Hakka dialect.
Course content:
1. Reading and review of exemplary research results on modern Chinese dialects;
2. Synchronic description of modern Chinese dialects (1): International phonetic notation;
3. Synchronic description of modern Chinese dialects (2): analysis of language structure;
4. Diachronic analysis of modern Chinese dialects (1): Systematic comparison with "Qie Yun";
5. Diachronic analysis of modern Chinese dialects (2): Types of phonetic evolution.
6. Research on the historical levels of Chinese dialects and their original characters.

課程概述 Course Description

漢語屬於漢藏語系中的一支,而漢語方言則是漢藏語系中最大的一個語族。從內部分類上來看,現代漢語方言少則有七類,多則有九類,具有相當豐富多樣的語言現象。本課程將對現代漢語方言進行鳥瞰式的介紹,之後則以臺灣通行的閩客語方言為對象,從共時及歷時的觀點進行較為深入的探討。

Chinese belongs to a branch of the Sino-Tibetan language family, and Chinese dialects are the largest language family in the Sino-Tibetan language family. From the perspective of internal classification, there are as few as seven types of modern Chinese dialects and as many as nine types, with quite rich and diverse linguistic phenomena. This course will provide a bird's-eye view of modern Chinese dialects, and then conduct a more in-depth discussion from the synchronic and diachronic perspectives, using the Min Hakka dialects popular in Taiwan.
