Course Objectives:
On completion of the course, students should be able to
1) provide real-life examples of social and cultural diversity;
2) demonstrate their multicultural awareness and appreciation;
3) use idiomatic expressions acquired in the course; and
4) express their opinions on diversity issues more confidently.
Diversity and Culture: Connecting the World
This course belongs to the Module of Multiculturalism. This module helps students investigate and discuss cultural issues and to develop a heightened awareness of the role that culture plays in daily life. Furthermore, learning the cultural differences between their native country and foreign countries facilitates their ability to accommodate their tolerance and appreciation to diversity.
世界大不同-語言與文化
本課程屬於「多元文化」模組。良好的英語力是二十一世紀公民需要具備的語言能力,學生在學習英文單字與文法之外,更應該要培養能聽(讀)懂,敢說,能寫的基本溝通能力。除此之外,理解世界多元文化,體驗東西方主流文化差異,養成具有國際觀,認識世界村裏的大小事與自身的關連,結合語言能力與文化觀念是當務之急。
課程特點:
每週介紹不同的文化主題,從打招呼,肢體語言,餐飲文化,旅遊會展,到網路社群應用,學生可以透過聽力練習與閱讀段落主題,來體驗東西方文化包含數十個國家不同的習俗,禮儀,與常規。課堂教材除了指定用書之外,老師也會融入網路媒體與數位頻道或是歐美影集引起學習興趣與討論,或是介紹國際文化新聞以提高學生的國際關注力。
Module Features:
Different topics would be introduced every week ranging from a variety of ways of greetings, body language (gestures), tourism and MICE industry to social media. Students can enhance their listening and reading by focusing on acquired materials including textbooks, online resources and videos. Not only can students experience difference cultures, customs and etiquettes by accessing those media, but also raise cultural awareness by discussing those topics with peers.

The world is very different - language and culture
This course belongs to the "Multi-cultural" module. Good English skills are the language skills that twenty-first century citizens need to have. In addition to learning English single characters and grammar, students should also cultivate the basic communication skills that can listen (read), understand, dare to speak, and write. In addition, it is imperative to understand the diverse cultures of the world, experience the differences between mainstream cultures in the West, develop international view, understand the connection between big and small things in the world village and one's own, and combine language skills and cultural concepts.
Course Features:
Every week, students can learn about different cultural themes, including greetings, physical language, catering culture, travel exhibitions, and online community applications. Students can practice and read paragraph themes through listening and reading, and experience the different customs, gifts, and common practices of dozens of countries. In addition to designated books, teachers will also integrate online media and digital channels or European and American albums to attract learning interest and discussions, or introduce international cultural news to improve students' international attention.

「大二英文」是一個以學習者為中心的模組化課程。針對學生個人學習興趣及相關系所之專業需求,開設四大模組課程,分別為「職涯與專業」、「日常溝通」、「多元文化」以及「自我表達技巧」。四大模組分別由具有共同核心目標但涵蓋不同主題之課程所建構而成。所有的課程均以學期為單位,學生根據個別興趣及需求,必須於上、下學期選擇兩門不同的模組課程。本課程將以25人小班制進行互動式教學,結合討論、展演及實作等各類學習活動,讓學生能在更多元、自主的學習語境中,具體強化其英語文溝通能力。
本課程屬於「多元文化」模組,因應全球化時代的來臨與多元語境融入英語學習的新趨勢,引導學生在學習英文的過程中,體驗不同文化現象,培養多元視角之世界觀,進而完備其成為世界公民之基本素養。
The SENM program is a student-centered module-based program which offers students choices and small, interactive classes. The program encourages students to tailor their English learning to their specific needs and interests by offering four semester-based modules: Career and Profession, Daily Communication, Multiculturalism, and Self-Expression Skills. Additionally, within each of the four modules, there are different themes, or topics, around which each course‘s curriculum is built. Each SENM student must choose two different module courses in one academic year according to their interests and needs. The program’s small class size (no more than 25 students) means that a variety of class activities such as discussions, role plays, and presentations are an integral part of the program.
This specific course belongs to the Multiculturalism Module. This module provides students with opportunities to experience different cultural phenomena. It helps students to cultivate multiple global perspectives and to prepare them to be global citizens.

"Soul English" is a modular course centered on learners. In response to students' personal learning interests and professional needs, four major module courses are established, namely "career and professional", "daily communication", "multi-cultural" and "self-expression skills". The four major modules are constructed from courses with common core goals but covering different topics. All courses are based on the school period. Students must choose two different module courses in the upper and lower school periods according to their respective interests and needs. This course will be interactively taught in a 25-person small class system, combining discussion, performance and work and other learning activities, so that students can specifically enhance their English communication skills in a more diverse and independent learning environment.
This course belongs to the "multi-culture" model. Due to the emergence of the era of globalization and the integration of diverse contexts into the new trend of English learning, it guides students to experience different cultural phenomena in the process of learning English, cultivate a world view from a diverse perspective, and then complete the basics of becoming a world citizen.
