本課程為加強認識漢字而設，是文字學後的一門進階課程，但講授方式仍是以導讀為主線。教授內容以篆文以前的文體為主，如殷周的甲骨、兩周的金文、春秋、戰國的帛書、竹簡等。每年選取不同的專門文字加以討論，由考字、通讀、了解句法，以至印證歷史，並教授治學的方法。
課程強調古漢字辨認的討論，分析漢字的字原。在求真、求實證的訓練下，對強化同學的思辨、建立專業自信有重要而積極的幫助。

This course is designed to enhance the recognition of Han characters and is an advanced course after learning characters, but the teaching method is still based on guidance and reading. The professor's content mainly consists of the texts before seal script, such as the oracle bones of the Yin and Zhou dynasties, bronze inscriptions of the Spring and Autumn Period, silk books of the Warring States, bamboo simplifications, etc. Every year, different special texts are selected for discussion, from examining characters, reading, understanding syntax, and even printing history, and teaching methods of learning.
The course emphasizes the discussion on the identification of ancient Han characters and analyzes the original characters of Han characters. Under the training of seeking truth and realism, it is of great importance and great help to strengthen students' thinking and establish professional confidence.
