就目前多數台灣的社會工作者而言，非營利組織及公部門是兩大就業領域，為了組織運作順暢及具備效能，會形成許多由人所制訂之制度，制度約束人的行為，影響個人的情緒及表現，而組織內部的網絡、文化及氛圍也關係著個人對於工作的承諾、投入與使命感，因此，組織行為課程即在就「人」、「組織」與「網絡」等面向中，提供學生認識相關理論、現象、知識及職能，以期未來能夠適應群體，進而創造友善的組織環境。As for most social workers in Taiwan, non-profit organizations and public departments are two major business areas. 社會工作系同學畢業後，通常加入組織工作，需要承上啟下，又需要對外聯繫，扮演各種角色。但是，對上、對下、對內、對外等挑戰，並沒有接受嚴謹的學理訓練。本課程就是要強化這些方面的能力。
現代社會是由組織所構成，現代人幾乎都是組織人，社會工作此一專業也常透過組織去推動。組織溝通既複雜又單純，複雜的是人與人際間的關係組合。單純的是只有三個要素。任何組織圖都是由這三個要素所組成，一是方塊，表明職位，每個職位有根本該做的事；兩條線，一個是上下的指揮，一個是平行的聯繫。
如何認識、適應、分析進而改變組織是任何組織人的挑戰，本課程幫助學生認識與分析組織，以利在組織理有好的表現，實踐在社工專業方面所學。
組織行為是在組織之中的，學習本課程應該從組織的角度去分析與探究有那些框架、那些先存的力量，然後瞭解組織人如何在既定的架構中生存、發展、改變。
