本課程針對當代社會學理論進行介紹，討論當代社會學理論，理論取徑的不同，與後續之發展。這門課同時注重對於理論的理解，同時能闡述不同理論對於當今社會的詮釋方向。因此，本課程重視課前的準備，與課堂中的參與，並強調同學之間互相的討論與琢磨。在加深個人對於當代社會學理論的理解同時，也藉由在課堂以及平時與同學間的討論，培養自己的分析社會現象、運作或結構的觀點與意見。對於個人見解的培養，以及對社會未來發展的關心，是其他技術性課程所不能顧及的。因此，培養寬廣的社會學觀點和關懷（和社會科學與人文素養），在高度技術化、市場化、與科技化的社會中，仍需佔有重要地位的原因，也是本課程的目標

This course introduces contemporary sociological theories, discusses contemporary sociological theories, differences in theoretical approaches, and subsequent development. This course also focuses on the understanding of theory and can explain the interpretation direction of different theories on today's society. Therefore, this course attaches great importance to preparation before class, participation in class, and emphasizes discussion and reflection among classmates. While deepening personal understanding of contemporary sociological theories, students can also develop their own views and opinions on analyzing social phenomena, operations or structures through discussions in class and with classmates. The cultivation of personal opinions and concern for the future development of society cannot be taken into account by other technical courses. Therefore, the reason why cultivating broad sociological perspectives and concerns (as well as social science and humanities literacy) still plays an important role in a highly technical, market-oriented, and technological society is also the goal of this course.
