本課程目的在於藉由軟體的操作，學生學習如何進行數據分析、科學計算與訊號處理。課程分成三個部分來執行：
第一部份是數據分析，由段老師授課。主要軟體是微軟的Excel，學習如何進行數據分析，進而以三個個案研究，透過Excel來熟習與實踐數據分析的過程，以及分析結果的判讀。
第二部份是運用Matlab進行科學計算，由胡老師授課。Matlab是語法簡單、效率高、使用者介面友善的軟體，非常適合作應用在流體力學、固體力學、天體力學等物理科學領域的數值計算、資料分析以及數據呈現，作為後續分析與應用的基礎。
第三部份是訊號處理，由黃老師授課。數據或稱訊號，因為定義域的不同而分成連續與離散兩類。訊號處理就是透過變換的技巧，將訊號從時域轉換到頻域，找出訊號的特性與關連性，以便將進行雜訊去除或是訊號過濾，得到有用的訊號。Matlab是主要的工具，用以實現上述的變換、雜訊去除與過濾，甚至進行訊號壓縮、水印嵌入等應用。

The purpose of this course is for students to learn how to perform data analysis, scientific computing and signal processing through the operation of software. The course is divided into three parts:
The first part is data analysis, taught by Teacher Duan. The main software is Microsoft Excel. You will learn how to perform data analysis. Then, through three case studies, you will become familiar with and practice the process of data analysis and the interpretation of analysis results through Excel.
The second part is to use Matlab for scientific calculations, taught by Teacher Hu. Matlab is a software with simple syntax, high efficiency and user-friendly interface. It is very suitable for numerical calculation, data analysis and data presentation in the fields of fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, celestial mechanics and other physical sciences, and serves as the basis for subsequent analysis and application.
The third part is signal processing, taught by Teacher Huang. Data, or signals, are divided into two categories: continuous and discrete due to different definition domains. Signal processing is to convert the signal from the time domain to the frequency domain through transformation techniques to find the characteristics and correlation of the signal so that noise can be removed or the signal can be filtered to obtain useful signals. Matlab is the main tool used to implement the above-mentioned transformations, noise removal and filtering, and even signal compression, watermark embedding and other applications.
