接續上學期學期對古典社會學的介紹，本學期將討論各主要社會學理論、學派、其中不同的
理論取徑，並閱讀重要理論家的著作。這門課注重對於理論的理解，也強調能闡述不同理論
對於當今社會的詮釋。因此，本課程重視課前的準備，與課堂中的參與，並強調同學之間互
相的討論與琢磨。在加深個人對於當代社會學理論的理解同時，也藉由在課堂以及平時與同
學間的討論，培養自己分析社會現象、運作或結構的觀點、意見、與能力。對於個人見解的
培養，以及對社會未來發展的關心，是其他技術性課程所不能顧及的。因此也是社會科學與
人文素養（與課程），在高度技術化、市場化、與科技化的社會中，仍需佔有重要地位的原
因，亦是本課程要傳達的概念。
