生理學是一門研究生命現象如何運作的科學。秉承自古希臘以來的傳統，生理學以解剖學為基礎，強調在已知構造之上，應用物理及化學的知識來闡明生物系統運行的原理。隨著近代生物學的迅速發展，生理學的內容也融入了細胞學、遺傳學、生化學、分子生物學等知識與技術，在細胞與分子的層次闡釋生命現象。人體生理學本門課程的重心在於介紹人體內從細胞，器官，到系統的各個層次之間，彼此的聯繫和交互作用。教學的內容將著重於人體各個部份之間進行溝通、協調、抑制及反饋等過程的機制，進而闡明人體內各個系統如何共同運作以在不斷變化的外在環境中維持個體生命的恒定性。課程將適時應用臨床教案提供學生分組討論的機會，並訓練學生閱讀英文研究報告的能力。

Physiology is the science that studies how life phenomena work. Adhering to the tradition since ancient Greece, physiology is based on anatomy, emphasizing the application of knowledge of physics and chemistry to elucidate the principles of the operation of biological systems based on known structures. With the rapid development of modern biology, the content of physiology has also been integrated with knowledge and technologies such as cytology, genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology to explain life phenomena at the cellular and molecular levels. The focus of this course on human physiology is to introduce the connections and interactions between cells, organs, and systems at all levels in the human body. The teaching content will focus on the mechanisms of communication, coordination, inhibition and feedback processes between various parts of the human body, and then clarify how various systems in the human body work together to maintain the stability of individual life in the ever-changing external environment. The course will use clinical teaching plans in a timely manner to provide students with opportunities for group discussions and train students' ability to read English research reports.
