藝術史的發展並非單一線性演進，它涉及到不同地區的思潮演變、詮釋者對歷史中的視覺藝術進行的脈絡書寫風格。因此，在美術系的基礎上學習藝術史，便是幫助學習者能夠從學術研究的視野認識藝術的定義，從中瞭解各個時代之間不同的藝術表現與內涵，以及藝術現代化的脈絡關係。
透過觀察藝術作品和文本分析的方式來訓練自我思想的能力，以及對圖像與意涵之間關聯的敏感度，以此加深個人對視覺藝術存在價值的了解。以至於在最後，能夠寫出一份有自己觀點的報告。The development of artistic history is not a single evolution. It involves the evolution of thought in different regions and the style of writing by the essays of visual art in history. Therefore, learning artistic history in the basics of the art department is to help learners to understand the definition of art from the perspective of academic research, and understand the different artistic expressions and connotations between different eras, as well as the relationship between art modernization.
Through the observation of artistic works and text analysis, we can train our own thinking ability and sensitivity to the relationship between images and meaning, thereby deepening our personal understanding of the value of visual art. So that at the end, you can write a report with your own views.
本課程範圍分為兩部分。第一部分為古典西洋美術史，以時序發展為主，涵蓋範圍從史前文明至十九世紀印象派。第二部分著重在現代主義，以運動、派別及形式等作為主要分類。
This course is divided into two parts. The first part is the history of classical Western art, which mainly develops in a timely manner, covering a range from prehistoric civilization to the nineteenth century Impressionism. The second part focuses on modernism, with movement, faction and form as the main categories.
