教育目標 Course Target

「社會思想史」課程介紹社會學興起前的重要思想,作為未來修習「社會學理論」課程的必要預備。社會學發展過程中具有重要影響力的理論創新,都不斷從思想史的浩瀚海洋汲取靈感,重新發現經典,因而任何有學分上限的思想史課程,必然都是片面和側重的。 本課程包含課程講授、助教課、分組研讀經典三部分:(1)課程講授選擇 Alan Ryan 的政治思想通史《論政治》為上課教材,該書以「人如何治理自身?」的追問為出發點,貫穿綿延2500年的政治思想史,提供政治思想史的梗概;(2) 助教課聚焦於重要經典篇章的選讀,由助教帶領精讀重要文本;(3)分組研讀經 典:由修課同學分組從底下「研讀經典」書單自選一部共同研讀,於期末課堂報 告並繳交分組書面報告。 課程目標 預期學生透過前述三個部分的學習,學到如何理解經典的當代意義,並建立理解社會學理論政治向度之最低限度必要的知識準備。 修課建議 課程設計強調「過程的累積」,亦即修課過程中前面階段的投入和累積,將 成為後面階段的基礎(期中考和期末報告),敷衍交差的心得摘要將忠實反應在 期中考的評量結果和期末經典導讀報告的分組互評,因而重視出席和作業。 The "History of Social Thought" course introduces important ideas before the rise of social science and is a necessary preparation for the future course of "Social Theory". Theoretical innovations that have important influence in the development of social science always draw spiritual sense from the vast ocean of intellectual history and rediscover classics. Therefore, any course in intellectual history with a limit on academic scores must be one-sided and side-oriented. This course includes three parts: course lecture, teaching assistant course, and sub-group study classics: (1) Course lectures and teaching Alan Ryan’s general history of political thought "Politics" is the premiere textbook. The book takes the question of "How do people govern themselves?" as the starting point, and it travels through the history of political thought that has been extended for 2,500 years, providing an overview of the history of political thought; (2) The teaching assistant course focuses on the selection of important classic chapters, and the teaching assistant leads the reading of important texts; (3) Sub-group study Dictionary: The classmate sub-group will select a book to study from the "Reading Classics" below, and will report it at the end of the class and submit a sub-group written report. Course Target It is expected that students learn how to understand the contemporary meaning of classics through the above three parts, and establish the minimum necessary knowledge preparation for understanding the political dimensions of social theory. Course recommendations Course design emphasizes the "cumulative process", that is, the investment and accumulation of the previous stages in the course will become the basis of the subsequent stages (mid-term exam and final report). The perfunctory summary of the experience will reflect the evaluation results of the mid-term exam and the sub-groups of the final classical reading reports, thus focusing on attendance and work.
