民法總則是民法的第一編，為學習民法者最重要的基礎課程。民法總則當中包含甚多抽象的概念與規則，因此課程中除講解民法的基本架構、民總的概念體系外，也將帶領同學研讀實務上的重要裁判，使同學理解法律的實際運作，並培養解析實例問題的能力。

The General Principles of Civil Law is the first part of the civil law and is the most important basic course for those who study civil law. 總則編為民法之基礎，本課程說明我國民法總則編之原理原則，注重培養對我國法制的瞭解，從學理與實務上學習民法之運用方法。期能使同學熟悉民法總則的基本概念與思維方式，以奠定未來民法其他各編之基礎。
