為使大一新生能有更好的數學基礎修習微積分、線性代數、統計學等數理課程，故此門課之目標為培養大一新生的數理能力，並且銜接高中數學與大學數學間的落差。此外，也讓學生能夠適應閱讀原文書籍與資料。

In order to enable freshmen to have a better mathematical foundation to take mathematical courses such as calculus, linear algebra, and statistics, the goal of this course is to cultivate the mathematical abilities of freshmen and bridge the gap between high school mathematics and college mathematics. In addition, it also enables students to adapt to reading books and materials in the original language.
