本課程之目標，係在探討刑法總則中，各項應適用於刑法分則以及其他相關刑事法令之共通原理。刑法總則規範犯罪行為之一般要件與法律效果，據以建立判斷是否成立犯罪與應否科處刑罰之體系。The purpose of this course is to explore the general principles of the Criminal Law, and each item should be applied to the common principles of the Criminal Law Division and other related criminal laws. The Criminal Law General Regulations shall govern the general requirements and legal effects of criminal acts to establish a system of whether a crime is established and whether a crime is required.
刑法乃規定犯罪及法律效果之刑罰的關係之行為規範，而刑法總則為刑法規定共同適用之準則，亦為研習刑事法之基礎，其於犯罪之基本觀念及刑罰之終極目的，在理論方面固值作深入之比較研究，而在實際運用上，尤須注意其妥適性。
