This practicum is offered as a field work conjunction to the TEFL Method course. This practicum hour provides MA students ample opportunities to get the actual teaching experience at the nearby middle school, An-He Junior High School. On a weekly basis, students will teach an hour of English class there. In the spring semester, the students will use the English reading package designed for An-He middle-schoolers to instruct the hour-long lesson. It is often times carried out as a team work teaching. Four to five students will form a team to split the various teaching/assisting responsibilities among the team members. For every session, there will a lead teacher with the assistance from the assisting teacher. The other two members will either be an observer or a camera man/woman. From time to time, the recorded practicum session will be review in class to allow retrospective thoughts on improving teaching and enhancing learning effectiveness.

There is no finite set of course materials for the practicum. However, from time to time, the instructor will distribute various observation/refection/commenting sheets to facilitate the reflective practice of teaching among student teachers.
