這是一門大學部三年級的必修課,也是大三這一年的重頭戲,主要的目的在於訓練社會學系的學生進行社會學研究的方法。因此「社會研究方法」在引導你如何使用研究方法,熟悉作為一位社會學學生必須掌握的研究之道。這門課將介紹社會研究方法的基本概念與過程,具體內容包含量化與質化的研究方法,使得學生對社會學的經驗研究有一定程度的了解;上學期的課程將以基本概念與量化方法為主,下學期將進入量化分析實作,以及質化研究方法。希望經過這一學年的訓練,你可以瞭解量化與質化研究的優缺點,欣賞不同研究取徑的優美之處。
社會研究必須透過嚴謹的社會研究方法逐步形成,透過嚴謹研究方法得到的研究結論才具有價值與意義,因此社會研究方法在社會學的訓練中具有重要性。然而,這並不意味走出社會學大門,「社會研究法」就與你無關,因為舉凡任何需要系統性瞭解社會現象時,「社會研究方法」都不會讓你失望,它可能成為你未來就業時的一種謀生工具。This is a required course for the third year of undergraduate studies and the highlight of the junior year. Its main purpose is to train sociology students in sociological research methods. Therefore, "Social Research Methods" guides you on how to use research methods and become familiar with the research methods that a sociology student must master. This course will introduce the basic concepts and processes of social research methods. The specific content includes quantitative and qualitative research methods, allowing students to have a certain understanding of empirical research in sociology; the course in the last semester will cover basic concepts and quantitative methods. Mainly, the next semester will enter the implementation of quantitative analysis and qualitative research methods. I hope that after this academic year’s training, you can understand the advantages and disadvantages of quantitative and qualitative research, and appreciate the beauty of different research approaches.
Social research must be gradually formed through rigorous social research methods. Only research conclusions obtained through rigorous research methods have value and significance. Therefore, social research methods are important in sociology training. However, this does not mean that after stepping out of sociology, "Social Research Method" has nothing to do with you, because whenever you need to systematically understand social phenomena, "Social Research Method" will not let you down, and it may become your future employment a means of livelihood.
