本課程目的以建立學生經濟學基本概念，學習面對有限資源，如何進行選擇．本課程將特別著重在經濟動機的說明，以利法律系的？學瞭解許多社會現象背後的經濟因素及制度設計的邏輯．

經濟學是研究如何把稀少性資源，做最有效率配置的一門學問，旨在探討人們在有限的資源下如何做選擇，以及人們所選擇的活動，會造成什麼樣的結果。因此，經濟學也可說是一門研究選擇的科學。本課程介紹基本經濟學概念及分析工具，用來研究如何把有限資源配置到各個彼此互斥的用途上，以期對經濟活動（行為） 有深入的瞭解。課程內容涵蓋個體經濟學及總體經濟學。個體經濟內容包括：理性選擇方法、市場如何運作、市場失靈與政府角色、訊息不對稱、法律之經濟分析等。總體經濟內容包括：總體經濟探討議題、國民所得的意義、物價膨脹與失業、貨幣與金融市場、國際經濟等。

Economics is a discipline that studies how to allocate scarce resources in the most efficient manner.
