The writer Wilde once said: "Before Whistler's paintings, there was no fog in London." This means that although London has been covered in thick fog for a long time, it was through the paintings of the painter Whistler that everyone realized the omnipresence of fog. The freshman Chinese course, through the reading and understanding of classic literature, enables students to gain pure aesthetic experience while being exposed to literary aesthetics. At the same time, they can also see through the clouds and gradually understand the social framework and cultural value behind the text. Even critical consciousness can finally re-examine things in life that have existed for a long time but have been ignored, and build a liberal arts and humanistic quality that cares about society and is close to art and literature.
