Taught in English
Illustration & Picture Book (I)
Course Target
The main function of illustration is to present text content, stories or ideas in a visual way. In addition, the biggest difference between illustration and other pure arts is not only the narrative nature of words, but also the market and specific purpose behind it, which also makes illustrations have the mass communication nature of visual communication. Therefore, all art-related designs, such as text arrangement, spatial expression, changes in lines, or the use of media, are more diverse than other types of artistic creation, so that the deep meaning of language (verbal) can be spread in a multi-directional non-verbal form (visual). Therefore, illustrations are widely used. All decorative copywriting and paintings inserted into the text of books, magazines, newspapers, manuals, novels, textbooks and other publications are collectively called illustrations. Generally speaking, illustration is an artistic expression that combines artistic creation and text (non-verbal and verbal), and has the ability to "narrate" inner thoughts. Therefore, through exercises and narrations, students can fully understand the mystery and interest of illustrations, and then allow students to establish a clear understanding and concept of illustrations.
