教育目標 Course Target

教學目標: 「社會研究方法」課程的目標是介紹與討論社會學研究方法的主要概念與過程,提供學生對量化與質化研究有基本的瞭解與實做的能力。研究方法是一套研究的工具,經由實際的操作,最容易學得如何使用研究方法。因此,本課程將提供學生一個進行社會學實證性研究的機會,透過分組合作的一個小型研究計畫的實習,學得完整的經驗研究方法的程序。本課程是社會學專業訓練的主要課程之一;本課程的學習也有助於提昇發現問題、思考問題、提出解答的能力。 「社會研究方法」課程的目標是討論介紹社會學研究方法的基本概念與過程,使得學生對量化與質化研究有一定程度的瞭解。研究方法是社會科學追求新知、累積知識的一套工具,研究者透過這一套完整的工具來探索社會的運作規則。然而,社會的議題錯綜複雜,難以套用研究方法,需要因應不同的研究議題,調整研究方法來達到最佳的研究結果。初學者除了學習基本概念與完整的流程,若能經由實際的操作、做中學,比較容易學得如何使用研究方法。因此,本課程將提供學生一個進行社會學實證性研究的機會,透過分組合作的一個小型研究計畫的實習,學習一套完整的經驗研究方法(量化、質化)。 凡是修課的學生必須按時上課,參與課堂的討論,參加實習的討論,準時繳交作業,考試成績合乎要求。每位學生皆應積極參與小型研究計畫,而且都應盡其本分,並配合教師與助教的要求進度。本課程的評分主要依據考試成績與作業報告:期中考(20%),期末考(20%),小組作業與口頭報告(35%);課堂出席與表現(10%);助教課個人表現(10%);其他事項(5%)。 為了執行研究計畫,學生需要分組,8-10人一組,每組推舉一位組長來與老師、助教聯絡。每週與助教進行的分組討論,各組須做討論內容的主題筆記,老師會定期檢查各組的筆記本。請各組申請一個共用的Dropbox來儲存收集的資料,每次討論時,可以即時使用。 上課時,請勿使用手機或電腦,除非是用來做筆記;請不要將早餐帶到課堂,若因時間來不及,用餐時,請勿影響到上課的環境。沒有事先預告的小考通常在上課的開始進行,請勿遲到,以免錯過考試。Teaching objectives: The goal of the "Social Research Methods" course is to introduce and discuss the main concepts and processes of sociological research methods, and to provide students with a basic understanding and practical ability of quantitative and qualitative research. Research methods are a set of research tools. It is easiest to learn how to use research methods through actual operations. Therefore, this course will provide students with an opportunity to conduct empirical research in sociology and learn the complete process of empirical research methods through the internship of a small research project through group collaboration. This course is one of the main courses for sociology professional training; the study of this course also helps to improve the ability to discover problems, think about problems, and propose solutions. The goal of the "Social Research Methods" course is to discuss and introduce the basic concepts and processes of sociological research methods, so that students can have a certain understanding of quantitative and qualitative research. Research methods are a set of tools used by social sciences to pursue new knowledge and accumulate knowledge. Researchers use this complete set of tools to explore the operating rules of society. However, social issues are complex and complex, making it difficult to apply research methods. Research methods need to be adjusted according to different research issues to achieve the best research results. In addition to learning basic concepts and complete processes, beginners can more easily learn how to use research methods if they can learn by doing through actual operations. Therefore, this course will provide students with an opportunity to conduct empirical research in sociology and learn a complete set of empirical research methods (quantitative and qualitative) through the internship of a small research project in group collaboration. All students taking courses must attend classes on time, participate in classroom discussions, participate in internship discussions, submit assignments on time, and have test scores that meet the requirements. Each student is expected to actively participate in a small research project and must fulfill his or her part and comply with the progress required by teachers and teaching assistants. The grading of this course is mainly based on test scores and homework reports: midterm exam (20%), final exam (20%), group assignments and oral reports (35%); class attendance and performance (10%); individual performance in teaching assistant classes ( 10%); other matters (5%). In order to implement the research plan, students need to be divided into groups of 8-10 people. Each group recommends a group leader to liaise with teachers and teaching assistants. Weekly group discussions with teaching assistants, each group must take notes on the topic of the discussion, and the teacher will regularly check each group's notebooks. Please apply for a shared Dropbox for each group to store the collected data. It can be used immediately during each discussion. During class, please do not use mobile phones or computers unless they are used to take notes; please do not bring breakfast to class. If you do not have enough time, please do not affect the class environment during meals. Unannounced quizzes are usually held at the beginning of class. Please do not be late to avoid missing the exam.
