本課程將以上、下兩學期的時間，講授社會學理論自古典時期至當代社會學理論的發展情況，希望透過講授的安排、課堂的討論、和課外的閱讀，使學生能對社會學理論發展的歷史背景、內在理路，和社會學理論與資本主義社會生成之間的關聯有所掌握，進而了解理論建構的重要，以及理論對個人與社會具有的啟發作用。透過本課程的學習，學生可以對社會學的想像(imagination)與洞見(insight)有深一層的理解，並將這種能力運用於了解自己的社會與生活。本學期的課程將以古典三大家─Marx, Durkheim & Weber─為主要對象，並介紹結構功能論的主要論點。

This course will teach the development of social theory from the classical period to the contemporary social theory. It is hoped that through the teaching arrangement, class discussion, and reading outside the class, students can master the historical background, internal theory and social theory development, and the relationship between social theory and capitalist social generation, and then understand the importance of theoretical construction and the initiation role of theory on individuals and society. Through this course, students can have a deeper understanding of the imagination and insights of society and use this ability to understand their society and life. The course of this study will focus on the three classical masters - Marx, Durkheim & Weber - as the main objects, and will introduce the main points of structural function discussion.
