Mechanics: one-dimensional and two-dimensional motion, Newton's laws of motion, circular motion, work and energy and conservation of energy, law of universal gravitation, momentum and impulse, rigid body rotation, angular momentum, torque and rolling, static equilibrium, simple harmonic motion and vibration and fluid mechanics. 2. Thermal science: zero law of thermodynamics and thermal expansion, first law of thermodynamics, gas kinetic theory, heat engine, entropy and second law of thermodynamics.
second semester
1. Electromagnetics: electric field, Gauss's law, potential energy and potential, dielectric and capacitance, DC and resistance, Kirchhoff's rule and DC circuit; magnetic field, Ampere's law, Faraday's law of induction, inductance, AC circuit, Maxwell Er's equation and electromagnetic waves. 2. Wave optics: waves and their characteristics, superposition principle, wave reflection and transmission, sound waves, and standing waves. (optional) 3. Modern physics: Introduction to relativity and quantum physics, basic concepts of quantum mechanics, atomic structure, nuclear reactions, nuclear fusion and radiation safety. (optional)
