本課程旨在引導哲學之初學者閱讀西方哲學名著原典，培養其閱讀暨分析哲學文本之能力，以為將來深入學習西方哲學奠定基礎。This course aims to guide beginners of philosophy to read original classics of Western philosophy and cultivate their ability to read and analyze philosophical texts, so as to lay the foundation for in-depth learning of Western philosophy.
本課程是透過對西洋哲學家著作之閱讀，讓同學對基本的哲學問題有所認識，並培養學生之思考習慣及鍛鍊其推理能力。除理論介紹之外，引導同學閱讀文本，增進其分析文本的能力。
This course is to read the works of Western philosophers, so that students can understand basic philosophical problems, and cultivate students' thinking habits and their ability to reason. In addition to theoretical introduction, guide students to read texts and improve their ability to analyze texts.
