Seminar on Thesis Writing
Course Target
Social work thesis writing is an important process for graduate students to obtain a degree. It not only involves research methods and academic writing skills, but also an important process of training logical thinking, written discussion, problem analysis, knowledge integration and research ethics. This course hopes to use special discussions, dismantling of real papers, Workshop methods such as imitation exercises, peer evaluations and teacher feedback are based on the spirit of mutual training between teachers and students to achieve the purpose of clarifying problem awareness, forming research questions, exchanging research knowledge, sharing research and publishing experiences, learning comments and responses, and understanding research ethics and other related knowledge. We guide graduate students to start from the "original intention" of social workers and transform their concern for social phenomena into rigorous awareness of academic issues. In this era of widespread AI tools, this course also includes practical training on generative AI in academic document collection, knowledge management, and ethical standards. The course design adopts a cumulative writing design, and weekly assignments will be gradually integrated into a research proposal. Students are required to select a core comparative paper (TSSCI/SSCI journal paper or excellent master's thesis) at the beginning of the semester as a comparative material for analysis, imitation, and research design throughout the semester. The course emphasizes process-based learning "from research formation to research proposal completion" rather than simply the introduction of research method knowledge.
This course attaches great importance to the process of research formation and revision. Students can gradually revise stage assignments based on feedback from teachers and peers, and do not aim to complete it all at once.
